Welcome to At The End Of the Day. I’m Hannah Sung and I write this newsletter for a people-first perspective on the news. Podcast coming soon!

If you’re a regular reader, consider signing up to support our work via Patreon.

Our first event

What does it mean to live your life in the public eye as a woman? Are there ways to build a sense of safety in person and online?

Join me in conversation with Ausma Malik, Chi Nguyen and Sarah Polley on Thursday, March 24 @ 8pm ET.

I’m doing my first event and you’re invited! It’s free and it’s Zoom, which means you can show up in your pyjamas with a glass of something fizzy and all the snacks.

I’m looking forward to this so much. These women are strong, sweet, tender, funny, and whipsmart. I learn so much every time I’m in their orbit.

Who you’ll hear

Ausma Malik is a committed city-builder who was elected Toronto District School Board Trustee (2014-18) and will be running for Toronto City Council in Spadina-Fort York this fall. If you’re in Toronto, you know she’s exactly the energy we need in local government. Read about her here.

Chi Nguyen is a life-long community builder, mom of two, and candidate for the riding of Spadina—Fort York in the upcoming provincial election in Ontario this spring. I met Chi when we worked on an event called AfterMeToo and we have been friends ever since. She is next-level in her dedication to getting good work done. Read about her here.

Sarah Polley is a filmmaker, activist and author of the brilliant Run Towards The Danger, a collection of essays that you really should read. You can read a New York Times review of it here.

And I’m the lucky person who gets to convene all of us. You know me 🙃

Join us!

The event is a livestream webinar on Thursday, March 24 @ 8 pm ET and it’s free. Click through here to register and forward this email to a friend.

Hope you get some nice moments to relax this weekend.

Can you feel spring around the corner? Toronto laughs in spring’s face. For tonight, anyway.

Take care,

Hannah
